Football Queensland is saddened to learn of the recent passing of Life Member Guenter Pfuhl.
Guenter was an enthusiastic advocate of Women’s football in the Brisbane area over a 20-year coaching career.
During his tenure as Queensland State Coach, Guenter was mentor, coach and friend to numerous female players.
He will be remembered as one of Football Queensland’s most successful coaches of female football at a National level.
Guenter’s influence is felt at the top level even now, with Canberra United’s Westfield W-League coach Rae Dower among those attributing her passion for football and coaching to his impact.
Guenter was also a founding member of the Germania club, which later merged with Southside Belmont to form Southside Eagles.
Friends and members of the football community wishing to pay their respects are warmly welcomed to celebrate Guenter’s life at the Great Southern Memorial Park, 1794 Mt Cotton Road, Carbrook on Wednesday, 23 November. Please arrive at 10.45am for an 11.00am service.
